(+)Pistols(+) 18th Celebration!!

Woe to thee who missed out on a fuckin' A night at the Red Lion in Wirksworth as Candy Apple Soür's Bass Extroadinaire 'Pistols' celebrated his 18th Birthday!

The always attractive Longgrass opened up the night with a storming Indie set. There was abit of a worry about attendance as they started (with the Gell contingent making an especially poor early showing), but the room filled as if they had heard the opening choord of Sam's Telecaster and come running!

The mighty Est followed, with the ever gorgeous Bianca Roe on fine form. Sturge played like the fuckin' ghost of Thurston Moore (who isn't actually dead, that's how impressive it was!), Joel (and his gaffa tape bass - oh how I approve of such a profound use of Gaffa Tape) could have been (nay, probably was) on speed he was pluckin' so fast and the ever dependable Carl Grossi was there to inject some of his fine Italian (drum-based) seasoning into the set.

Candy Apple Soür's set can be summed up in two of the comments I made on the night (of course to everyone who'd listen and of course through the microphone):

'I know we're the best band on all night, and when you can't help but come back and watch us here next week, we'll be the best band on again. And I know you're all only going to the Pav gig to see us, because we'll just be the best band on all night again. I know all this because I know we're the best band you've ever seen...' and 'Thankyou everyone, We've been Candy Apple Soür and we've been amazing'

Now, I have to ask, whats tighter? A nun's downstairs, the TrentBarton bus driver who wouldn't let me on the bus when I was only 3p short, or 12 Gauge Justice on Saturday night? They were fuckin' stormin'!! There's no other word! Uncompromising, undressed and under the influence, their heavy fuckin' metal destroyed any traces of an eardrum anyone might have had after our set.

Thanks to all the bands that played and a huge thanks to Ollie Taylor-Fry for doing the sound, it was so loud the ceiling was shaking downstairs! Catch Candy Apple Soür with Ollies band Serotonin and 12 Gauge Justice again at the Fishpond on May the 4th. Anyone who missed out on the Red Lion (which, I might add was free!) needs to get down to t'Pond because it's gunna be just as hardcore!
